Recently, I was asked on Twitter (not word for word): “I’m 47, have four kids,…
So most of my followers at some point experienced a particular pain point, which proved as the ‘turning point’ and got the ball rolling for them on their fitness journey.
I think this is very important because everyone can learn more about what motivates them to improve, and then over the long-term, keep digging at that same pain point in order to keep the results going.
Some examples from this tweet, include;
- A widower (49) with two teenage kids who didn’t want to fall apart, and instead stay strong for them.
- Seeing the definition of a Dad Bod in the mirror.
- Getting divorced.
- A back injury while cleaning the garage out.
- Turning forty.
- Type 2 diabetes and the potential of a brutally painful death.
The commonality with all of them is of course, pain; either current pain, or the promise of future pain if something doesn’t change ASAP.
So if you’re struggling to get motivated to stick to your Intermittent Fasting diet, or the training program is feeling like hard work, here’s a few questions you could ask yourself:
What impact could being overweight or unhealthy have on my kids?
What could my life be like if I no longer had a Dad Bod, and got lean and chiselled?
Am I fit enough to maintain a healthy back? If not, how badly could my life deteriorate if I was in pain performing basic activities?
What diseases could I be at risk of in the future, and how badly would my life suck if I was to have one?
Most Men Over 40 are at their best when they’re able to play with their kids (or grandkids) freely, without fear of injuring themselves. Or do gardening, or work on projects in the garage without doing their back in.
Unsurprisingly, they’re also miles happier when lean, healthy and high energy. It’s rare to see these days, but it doesn’t mean it’s not perfectly possible.
Despite certain groups (*cough*fataccpetanceweirdos*cough*) trying to promote the Dad Bod body as sexy, I think most Men Over 40 have the common sense to realise that it’s a BS attempt to control them.
The test you need to conduct is not a you vs Leonardo Di Caprio (or some other world-famous actor). It’s a ‘Dad Bod You’ vs ‘Chiselled You’, on the beach, and see which physique females find more attractive.
I’d be willing to put A LOT of money on which physique they’d prefer.
But it’s not just sex appeal. It’s also:
- Higher energy levels
- Lower injury risk
- Improved mood
- Higher testosterone
- Lower risk of diabetes
- Improved relationships
- Greater income potential
That you’ll gain if you allow one of your pain points to transition into a ‘turning point’ – a turning point quite literally, for the rest of your life.
Muscle gain and fat loss are both critical, and will completely transform all of the above. If you’re looking for the ideal training program for Men Over 40, then look no further than the James Bond program.
Then the eating system that will allow you to hit and maintain 10-15% body fat year-round, and enjoy the entire process, get a custom-tailored IF meal plan.
