Okay, so I appreciate that my weakness is probably that I have too much of a broad, macro-level perspective on fat loss. I have almost become dismissive of the “little things” that add up to success over time.

 

These things are incredibly important, especially if you’re a relative beginner, or haven’t made progress in a while. Whilst long-term strategic planning is key, you also need day to day success as well.

 

Here’s today’s 3 top fat loss tips:

 

Drink 1 Gallon Of Water Per Day

 

It helps to clear toxins and flush out water retention. If you’re trying to lose fat and still look puffy, you have a lot of water retention covering up those muscles you’ve worked so hard for – drinking more water will help reduce this.

 

Have A Protein Shake Before You Leave The House

Paul Carter takes the credit for this – having a protein shake before you leave the house or a function/social event/whatever will curb your appetite and killing any desire to eat. Food at these events is likely to be high sugar, high salt and full of shit, begging to kill any fat loss progress you’ve recently been making.

 

Not only will it kill your appetite (which is the most important part; appetite manipulation folks), but it will make hitting your protein goal for the day a lot easier and faster.

 

Track Your Calories For The First Week

It’s the old saying: “what gets measured gets done”. If you don’t measure anything, you’re just guessing. And unless you’re highly experienced with this stuff, “just guessing” is going to waste a ridiculous amount of time, energy and frustration, assuming you ever even get close to your goals.

 

You must track calories if you want to be able to do this shit for yourself in the long-run. You’ve gotta be able to have a good idea of what’s going into your mouth. I’m trying to teach you how to fish here, rather than fish for you.

 

Once you can do this stuff yourself, you’re set for life. You won’t have to keep yo-yo dieting and concerning yourself with this same crap over and over and over and over again. You will be able to start focusing on other areas of life, rather than getting caught up in the cyclical frustration diet.
