Men Over 40 – Week 8

This is a very useful article as it gives you insight into the mind of a true champion. Arnold achieved more in two decades than five men will do in their entire lifetimes. Arnold has a three-part formula for success given below:

When reading this, I realised just how applicable this is to fitness, and all Men Over 40. You must manage your time, your meals, and your training schedule effectively if you want to maintain success with fat loss and fitness in general. How far in advance should you plan?

Is planning your meal schedule 2 weeks ahead too far in advance? Probably. But can you plan Monday to Friday’s meals on Sunday? Of course. Have a read of this article, and let me know what you think:

Paul talks about how muscle is always lean, which I like, as this term gets thrown around left, right and centre. Fat is what makes you not lean. But apart from this, he mentions a few factors in terms of guys who are looking to gain muscle:

  • You don’t want to be too lean
  • You don’t want to be too active
  • Take your time – it takes a long time to gain muscle

The overall message, as always with Paul is a good one: take your time and do it gradually:

This is a fantastic article on goal-setting. Why do so many people lose motivation and give up on their New Years goals around March time? How can we prevent this from happening, and ensure that we are successful, whether in terms of fat loss or muscle gain? Here are the answers:

This comes back to the importance of time management for Men Over 40, this time in respect to getting the most bang for your buck in terms of exercise selection. Everything you do in training must have a very clear and specific purpose, otherwise your precious time is probably better spent elsewhere. Jason gives some good insight into figuring this out:
